Digital Citizens of the 21st Century.
You are a digital citizen living in the 21st century. Digital citizenship is important, as we learn the proper use of a global power. We all need to become better digital citizens. We need to understand that our culture may not be the same as the culture of the person we are chatting with. We need to be careful about the language and syntax that is used to communicate to a global society.
In our classroom, we are expected to know and follow the standards described below. If you would like to read the original document, you make click on the link.
21st Century Students are Creative and Innovative. You can demonstrate creative thinking, develop new and exciting products and use technology wisely. Technology allows you to try out new ideas, create new work and express your talents.
21st Century Students Communicate and Collaborate. You work, interact and communicate with your friends, your teachers, your parents, and people in the work place. In order to communicate information, you need to use proper formats, grammar, and the best media platform for the job. You also need to be aware of the culture of students you communicate with throughout the globe. For example: In Australia a "napkin" means diaper. You wouldn't want to get up from the table and ask for a diaper - would you??
21st Century Students know how to Research Information. You use technology to plan and organize your work. You know how to locate sources and cite them appropriately. You are able to evaluate information and make sure you use only sources that are reliable. During your research, you use the appropriate tools that will best help you get the job done. Plagiarism (copy and pasting from anywhere on the web and using the information as your own) is not only stealing other people's ideas, but it will also get you an "F" on your work in this class.
21st Century Students are critical thinkers, problem solvers and decision makers. You are able to use technology to research and find new or significant problems to solve. You can plan and manage your activities in order to find a solution to your problem. Using technology, you can collect and analyze the data from many sources and use multiple displays to help you explore a solution.
21st Century Students are Digital Citizens. Being a digital citizen means that you will not visit inappropriate sites. You are responsible for your learning and the use of this technology. You will make sure that you follow copyright laws when you use pictures or articles found on the internet. You can site your sources appropriately.
